7-Day Tanzania Itinerary for Safari During the Great Migration Itinerary
DAY 1
You will arrive at Kilimanjaro International airport where you will be met by our representative and a driver/guide who will transfer you to Arusha a Lodge, a perfect haven for relaxation either before or after any East African safari. Upon arrival you will check-in and be prepared for dinner and your overnight stay.

DAY 2
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you will check-out and depart for the Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. The natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park contains some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, as well as lion, leopard, wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals: the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and the Ashy Starlings. In the evening you will arrive at the Bougainvillea lodge where you will check in, have dinner and enjoy your overnight stay.

DAY 3
Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you will check-out and head towards the Serengeti National Park travel through the beautiful high lying Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, you will descend into the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. You will head to the central area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River. This river provides a valuable water source to this area attracting wildlife well representative of the Serengeti’s species. You will arrive in time for lunch and then enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park. Later in the evening you will check-in at the Mbugani Tented Camp where you will have dinner and turn in for the night.

DAY 4
Serengeti National Park
You will check-out and depart early in the morning with a packed breakfast and lunch and drive to the Mara River where you will see large groups of wildebeests moving towards the river or congregating along the river waiting for their time to cross. This experience is such an adventurous event to witness! It is also the time for the hungry crocodiles stalking their next meals after almost a year long wait. You will spend the day along the Mara River. In the evening you will drive to Tanzania Bush Camps Mara River – Northern Serengeti for a hot shower, dinner and your overnight stay.

DAY 5
Serengeti National Park
You will wake up early and depart with a packed breakfast for yet another game drive along the Mara River. You will spend the entire day along the river watching the wildebeest crossing. In the afternoon you will drive back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will check-out and drive to central Serengeti, arriving at the Mbugani Tented Camp – Central Serengeti where you will take a hot shower, enjoy a hot meal and settle in for the night. This area is big-cat territory, where leopards roam around the camp.

DAY 6
Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast you will check-out and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will descend over 600 meters into the crater floor for an exciting full day safari. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and elephant. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lion, hyena, jackal, cheetah and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater which is one of its main features. A large number of pink flamingo, hippo and other water birds can be seen here. In the evening you ascend back up the crater wall and drive to Bougainvillea Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

DAY 7
Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast and an early morning check out, you will travel to visit Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy an early morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. The lake's alkaline waters fluctuate widely with the seasons, and dry spells expose large areas of mud flats known to attract baboon, herbivore such as hippo, impala, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, warthog and giraffe. Giant fig trees and mahogany seen in the groundwater forest, underground springs from crater highlands, hot springs, acacia woodlands. Leopards, although in abundance, are hard to get a glimpse of, just like the other elusive carnivores including the tree-climbing lion. Lake Manyara provides opportunities for ornithologists to get keen sightings of over 300 migratory birds, including flamingo. In the evening you will drive to Arusha for overnight at Arusha Moivaro Lodge. This is where your safari will end.
