DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN ZANZIBAR
Our team will meet you at the airport and take you to Zanzibar Stone Town, the historical heart of the island. Despite some changes over the last 200 years, this is your opportunity to explore its well-preserved heritage and unique artefacts. After a brief tour, you’ll spend the night at a wonderful beachfront hotel.
DAY 02: SPICE TOUR
In the morning, we’ll pick you up from your Zanzibar hotel and take you to the renowned spice farms. Along the way, you’ll discover the island’s rich history, with ancient sailors and Arab merchants exploring the fragrant islands as early as the eighth century for spices. Learn about the island’s nickname from the 15th century and explore the cultivation and harvesting of various spice plants. Discover the value of pepper, cloves, and the unique properties of spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. After an exciting spice tour, we’ll send you back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 03: TURTLE AQUARIUM & SUNSET DHOW CRUISE
Here, you’ll have a great time at Nungwi aquarium adventures, known as a turtle’s paradise. You can swim with various turtles and even feed giant tortoises that are over 100 years old. After enjoying this, you’ll have a seafood lunch and fruits. Later, get ready for a sunset dhow cruise along Zanzibar’s coastline. It’s a peaceful way to relax, enjoy nature’s beauty, and make lasting memories. The cruise combines sailing, the charm of Zanzibar’s coast, and the beautiful colours of the sunset. After the cruise, return to the hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.
DAY 04: NAKUPENDA BEACH AND PRISON ISLAND
Your exciting day begins with a hotel pickup, taking you to Prison Island, also known as Changu or Quarantine Island. Originally intended as a prison complex in 1893, it later served as a quarantine station for yellow fever cases. Today, the historical buildings are in ruins, but they now function as a guesthouse for tourists. Explore the island’s giant tortoise reserve, where you can admire, pet, and even feed these ancient and peaceful creatures. The island has been home to giant tortoises since 1919 when four Aldabra giant tortoises were gifted from Seychelles.
Witness the thriving tortoise community, including the descendants of the original settlers. Don’t miss the nursery for baby tortoises, providing a delightful experience, especially for kids. After bidding farewell to Prison Island, embark on a boat ride for about half an hour to Nakupenda Beach.
At Nakupenda Beach, the name itself meaning “I Love You,” enjoy the gentle sand beneath your feet, the soothing waves, and friendly staff catering to your needs. Take a refreshing swim, sunbathe, and explore the crystal-clear waters for snorkelling. Following your underwater adventure, indulge in a sumptuous beach lunch featuring grilled shrimps, squid, octopus, lobster, and langoustine—based on the day’s catch.
After this enchanting tour, return to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay, reflecting on the memorable experiences of the day.
